{"id":1440,"date":"2015-12-28T11:49:50","date_gmt":"2015-12-28T16:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/?p=1440"},"modified":"2016-01-09T17:09:52","modified_gmt":"2016-01-09T22:09:52","slug":"forward-wire-covers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/?p=1440","title":{"rendered":"Forward Wire Covers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After purchasing the latest RV10 plans CD now available from Van&#8217;s, I noticed they have an optional wire covering from the spar bulkheads to the instrument sub-panel.\u00a0 This part only cost $14, so one was purchased and fitted on the left side.\u00a0 I like the appearance so well, the left side will be used to build a mirror image for the right.\u00a0 Adding two upper holes provides four different wiring pathways to the firewall or instrument panel &#8211; two above now being created and two 5\/8&#8243; black plastic conduits under the forward floor panels. This same configuration will be on both left and right sides and should provide more than adequate wire routes to the wings and tail.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0097.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-6GkPsjM1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1436 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0097-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0097\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0097-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0097-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>The first step is layout the hole drilling pattern as per the installation instructions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0098.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-6GkPsjM1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1437 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0098-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0098\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0098-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0098-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Drill out the holes to 3\/4&#8243; diameter using a Unibit. The angle was a bit tight for the cordless drill, but the results after SEM self-etch priming look good.\u00a0 I have decided not to fully alodine\/prime attachable parts in the cockpit as exposure to elements like in the tail should be reduced.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0101.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-6GkPsjM1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1438 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0101-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0101\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0101-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0101-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Here the F-1016H brackets are prepped for priming.\u00a0 These will hold SB750-10 black plastic bushings for the wire runs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0102.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-6GkPsjM1\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1439 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0102-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0102\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0102-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/IMG_0102-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>The holes for the brakets are match drilled through the forward skin under the NACA vents.\u00a0 After dimpling, the brackets are ready for AN426AD3-3.5 rivets. Note new bushing holes on the right side of the plane are also visible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>JANUARY 6, 2016<\/p>\n<p>Eric and I riveted the dimpled and SEM primed
