{"id":1672,"date":"2016-06-05T08:46:00","date_gmt":"2016-06-05T12:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/?p=1672"},"modified":"2016-06-06T11:21:39","modified_gmt":"2016-06-06T15:21:39","slug":"sound-damping-and-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/?p=1672","title":{"rendered":"Sound Damping and More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This week saw a number of miscellaneous activities completed.\u00a0 The main work involved spraying foam fire block material under the forward floor panels, mainly for sound damping purposes.\u00a0 Other items included conduit tie-down locations and 2&#8243; air vent hole punching.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6604.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-z9hNCZR6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1656 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6604-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP6604\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6611.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-z9hNCZR6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1659 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6611-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP6611\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>I borrowed a specialized gun for Fomo products from my friend Tal.\u00a0 An extension was fashioned with Tygon tubing to insert under the already fastened floor panels of the fuselage quickbuild kit.\u00a0 The tubing is held in-place with two 5\/8&#8243; hose clamps.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6608.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-z9hNCZR6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1658 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6608-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP6608\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6607.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-z9hNCZR6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1657 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6607-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP6607\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>This stuff expands rapidly and is very sticky.\u00a0 I tried to cover large sections of the exterior surfaces for fear of getting this stuff all over.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6638.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-z9hNCZR6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1660 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6638-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP6638\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6640.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-z9hNCZR6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1661 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6640-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP6640\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Once out the the nozzle, the foam becomes unruly and difficult to place in the right areas.\u00a0 Despite my best efforts to contain the stuff, it still wound up in undesired place.\u00a0 Notice how much it grew right out of some holes.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6642.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-z9hNCZR6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1662 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6642-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP6642\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6643.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-z9hNCZR6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1663 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6643-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP6643\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>After removing the tape and paper, the expanded foam coming out is visible in a few spaces.\u00a0 The results from a sound perspective were very good.\u00a0 Tapping on the floor panel results in only a dull thud &#8211; which should indicate the panel cavities are fully covered. Next up &#8211; final cleanup and get ready for interior paint!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another action was finalize the conduit runs from the baggage area back to the tail section.\u00a0 The right side run will be used for COM antenna and magnetometer, the left side for strobes.\u00a0 The intention throughout the plane is use 0.100&#8243; hole\u00a0 is positioned exactly in the bulkhead.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6637.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-z9hNCZR6\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1671 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/IMGP6637-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"IMGP6637\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Not the best picture, but it does shows how well the punched hole and the 2&#8243;
