This means all the rudder framework parts (spar, horn, ribs, stiffeners) have been drilled, countersunk, and deburred ready for corrosion prep.\u00a0 It took about 5 hours to get this done.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMGP3642.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-TYUhuMci\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img fastener holes on the Rudder Horn.\u00a0 This is a crucial part of the airplane steerage mechanism as the rudder control cables will attach here.\u00a0 Countersinking this side with a micro-stop countersink cage was easy, the backside not so.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMGP3643.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-TYUhuMci\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-446\" alt=\"IMGP3643\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMGP3643-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>the back part of the horn piece is rounded, meaning the countersink cage cannot be aligned perpendicular to the surface and parallel to the hole.\u00a0 As a result, hand countersinking was required.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMGP3646.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-TYUhuMci\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-447\" alt=\"IMGP3646\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMGP3646-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Voila.\u00a0 Using a hand crank attached to the #30 countersink bit, I was able to get the proper alignment.\u00a0 It took a while longer to hand-bore out the metal, but actually I liked the control.\u00a0 The appropriate flush rivet was continually used to check the depth, which in my opinion turned out quite nice.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMGP3649.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-TYUhuMci\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-448\" alt=\"IMGP3649\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMGP3649-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>Next was drill out the lower spar rib and corresponding flange part to match the attachment points to the horn.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMGP3655a.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-TYUhuMci\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-450\" alt=\"IMGP3655a\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/IMGP3655a-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" points for the rudder stops prepared in Section 6 for the vertical stabilizer.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a
