Using the angle iron jig prepared earlier, I drilled #40 holes through the iron about every 7th hole using the AEX piece as a template.\u00a0 Clecoes were then used to clamp down the trailing edge for processing with a micro-stop countersink.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/IMGP3758.jpg\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-d86kVkqO\" data-rl_title=\"\" data-rl_caption=\"\" title=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-562\" alt=\"IMGP3758\" src=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/IMGP3758-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/IMGP3758-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/rv10.mirimar.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/IMGP3758-200x200.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>The two middle holes indicated with the Sharpie lines in the middle are #30 in size &#8211; big enough to allow the guide portion of the countersink bit to protrude through the trailing edge, but small enough to still provide solid backing.\u00a0 The overall result was very good.\u00a0 A few finished holes can be seen on the right.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The trailing edge of the rudder has a very thin wedge of AEX sandwiched between the left and right skins.\u00a0 This fragile piece of metal has to be well secured during the countersink operation making ready for the double-sided rivets eventually holding everything together.
